Katsu in an incredibly short shunting engine.

Bio[]

Katsu was built extremely short to cooperate with very low tunnel height restrictions. He worked in the mines of the Wild Rock Mine Co. until the 1950s, when it sold its mine to the Lower Valley Railway, allowing for a more advanced coaling plant. Katsu was sent to the Upper Valley Railway, eventually replacing Takao as the number 1 engine. Katsu lives at the Main Station and spends his time arranging trains for the bigger engines.

Persona[]

Katsu thinks highly of himself, believing there isn't an engine out there who works harder than him. He first hated passenger trains, as he thought they were nothing but a distraction from more important industrial work. But he has since realized their importance while working at the Main Station. Despite his ego, he can be genuinely kind and help out a friend in need.

Livery[]

Katsu was painted NWR red with yellow stripes when was having his overhaul and then been painted GWR green. He also has the number 787 painted LRER blue on his sides.

Basis[]

Katsu is based on Peckett 0-4-0T No. 1900, who is sometimes nicknamed "The Flying Bufferbeam". This engine appeared in the second half of the Thomas and the U.K. Trip special.
